      Viranjeet's reflection
This competition has motivated me to find out more about various social media tools such as Facebook and blogs. I have also learnt the importance of teamwork, co-operation and to work within the time that is set for us. Overall, I have enjoyed the experience of this competition.

Xue Lun's reflection
Through this competition, I have learnt how to design and create a good blog, ways to manage the blog and to use it to promote a brand. Cooperation and Teamwork are required in the whole working process. Lastly, this experience has taught me to be responsible.

Janice's reflection
This competition has taught me how to use social media more efficiently. For example, I have learnt about the right way to use tags and how useful they are in the Social Media Workshop. The site visit was an eye-opener and I have learnt and many things about woods and have my first experienced in an industrial area.

Jing Yuan's reflection
This competition has helped me to improve my skills on Facebook and blogs and also the importance of teamwork. Our team designed a blog and a Facebook page to attract people to the Brand that was assigned to us. During  the site visit, I saw the many heavy duty machines used to cut the woods which I have not seen before. Overall, I have gained so much from this learning experience and I have greatly enjoyed myself.

Meili's reflection
This competition is a tough one. I am glad that I am able to make use of what I have learnt from the school's ICT enrichment course, that is, to use Adobe Photoshop to edit the pictures so as to enhance our blogs. Although some of the team members encountered difficulties in their work, everyone did their part to help out. Overall, I am happy with my work and most importantly, I have learnt a lot from our trainers, teachers and my group members too.

A day after the site visit, we reported to school to work on the blog and Facebook page. We were quite lucky as Ms Phang managed to get us the Computer Lab 4. Viranjeet, Xue Lun and Mei Li worked on the blog while Janice and Jing Yuan worked on the Facebook page. We worked hard even though we faced difficulties as we helped each other out.

Site Visit to Sim Seng Hin Sawmill Co Pte Ltd ---- 10 November 2010

We have no idea where the company is situated. We met our teacher, Ms Phang, at Redhill MRT station at 2pm and took the train all the way to Yew Tee MRT station. The team continued to work on the interview questions and decided to rank the questions so as the most important ones are answered first.

team is really working hard (:
We nearly forgot to alight at Jurong East MRT station as we were too engrossed in ranking the interview questions. Fortunately,  Ms Phang reminded us. At Yew Tee MRT station, we went to the Foodcourt to continue the discussion. Ms Phang treated us ice-Milo and finally, we managed to complete the task.

    wow, so hardworking!
Next, we have to take a cab to the site because it's very far away from the station and it's beyond walking.

Viranjeet and Meili took the 1st cab and reached the site first. They were not aware that there were dogs awaiting at the gate of the site. Both of them were very frightened as the dogs were barking fiercely and seemed to be moving towards them. Fortunately, the dogs were being leashed. 5 minutes later, the rest of the team reached and they were also frightened by the dogs. We were warmly welcome by the staff and waited at the office (which is air-conditioned).

When all the school teams and Mr Ken Koh from YEA reported, we started the tour for our site visit.

The woods are packed in such manner.
The stack of woods
At the warehouse, we saw many heavy machines and the workers at work. The working environment was rather dusty and noisy. We tried our best to stay focus and be attentive at all times. We were happy that most of our questions raised were answered. Our photographers, Jing Yuan and Janice, took many photos.

The guide explained every part in details.
The workers helped too.

Our hardworking members.

At the end of the session, we thanked everyone and headed home :)

Social Media Workshop (Junior) --- 6 November 2010

The Social Media Workshop provides an opportunity for us to learn how to effectively leverage on social media platforms. The workshop was conducted at Bishan Public Library.

Our chief trainer, Mr Donnie Seet, explained the objectives of the YEA Heritage Brands Challenge. Next, Mr Ariff Kamal from OOm Pte Ltd, shared his experience with the participants and elaborated on how we can make use of social media strategies to communicate with others. We had so much fun and gained a lot from this workshop.
